Extremity Manipulation

This is a 2-day, 16-hour introductory course on HVLA extremity manipulation, theory, and practical application, with a focus on enhancing autonomic nervous system homeostasis. It’s built on years of learning from DO’s, DC’s and PT’s, along with over a decade of clinical application. Various aspects from these different professions are incorporated into this course. A wide variety of techniques are discussed in-depth throughout this course, with focus on providing safe and effective clinical manipulative treatment.

How to treat high-level athletic impairments, ankle sprains, cervicogenic dizziness, thoracic outlet, carpal tunnel, epicondylitis and other impairments with manipulative techniques is covered throughout the course.

How to utilize Dry Needling in conjunction with manipulative therapy is also covered in-depth throughout this course.

Students will learn the skills required to perform safe and effective cervicothoracic manipulative techniques to properly selected patients.

Significant time will be spent on safety, biomechanics, and neurovascular anatomy & physiology. This course centers on hands-on, practical experience with partners.

Additionally, this course will include history taking, informed consent, set up procedures, relative and absolute contraindications, efficacy, physiology, global and local forces generated during manipulation, controversy regarding the utilization of manipulation, cervical arterial dissection, and evidence-based research.

Following the course, each student receives access to both instructors via cell phone or email and are encouraged to contact us at any time with clinical questions or concerns.

Scope of Practice
The American Physical Therapy Association states that dry needling & manipulation are within the scope of practice for a Physical Therapist. Several other health professions cite that dry needling & manipulation are within their specific scope of practice as well. There are however, specific U.S. state rules, regulations and guidelines that do not permit the practice of dry needling and/or manipulation. It is your responsibility to know, understand and practice within the specific rules, regulations and guidelines of your state, jurisdiction and professional license.

Intricate Art Spine & Body Solutions is solely an educational resource to provide the knowledge and technical skills necessary to deliver safe and effective dry needling and manipulation treatment. Intricate Art Spine & Body Solutions does not make policy, claims, or interpretation on professional licensure or scope of practice. Intricate Art Spine & Body Solutions encourages all participants to contact their licensing board for official positions and rulings related to the practice of dry needling and spinal manipulation.

For AT’s:
All our courses are certified through the Athletic Training Board, BOC #P10256.

For DC’s:
Please contact us for any information required to submit a course for individual certification for any of our 4 Dry Needling courses.

For OT’s:
We are an AOTA Approved Provider of Continuing Education: #0000000738.
DN 1 AOTA# 0000004453. DN 2 AOTA# 0000004573. Lumbopelvic DN (includes pelvic floor) AOTA# 0000005390.

For PT’s:
As of January 1, 2020, the FSBPT (Pro cert.) and the APTA no longer approve CE courses. Currently, states either:
1) Require their own specific approval.
2) (this is most common) They accept courses approved by any other state sub-chapter of the APTA, which all of our courses have.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this new system of course certification. It is the registrants’ responsibility to understand their specific state requirements and to request any specific state certification upon signing up for the course.

States Requiring Specific State Certification:

Some states, including but not limited to: LA, MN, NJ, NY, NV, OH, and TX require CE courses to have specific state certification. We are certified in the majority of these states.

Maryland requires their own certification for dry needling.

Please see below for a list of states where our CEU’s are currently accepted either due to specific certification or due to reciprocity: If you do not see your state below or your state requires specific course certification, please contact us prior to signing up. Course numbers are listed for states requiring specific certification, or states using online CE systems like CE Broker. It is the registrants’ responsibility to understand their specific state requirements and to double check with their state board if the particular course they are interested in is certified in their state. Again, we are more than happy to acquire any certification requested by upcoming participants, just let us know.
