Intricate Art Dry Needling 1

Intricate Art Dry Needling 1

dry-needling-class

Intricate Art Dry Needling 1 is a 3 day, 27 hour introductory course on Dry Needling in clinical practice. The entire body is covered, with less emphasis on the hands, feet and face. These are covered in-depth in level 2. (you may begin with DN 1 or DN 2)

Making sure our students get the most personalized, hands-on experience is important to us, which is why our class sizes are limited.

The course begins with an overview of DN history, safety, and current evidence-based research. Neuromusculoskeletal impairments, including common signs and symptoms and potential DN treatment routes are discussed in depth throughout the course. We also go through the known and theorized physiologic responses to needling different structures, such as (but not limited to):

  • Periosteum
  • Ligaments
  • Tendons
  • Muscle
  • Scar tissue

Students will get an in-depth look at the methodology and effectiveness of DN for high level athletes, geriatric patients, and everything in between. Safety precautions and the proper handling of potential blood borne pathogens, per OSHA guidelines, associated with DN are covered in-depth throughout the course.

An introduction to manipulative therapy and how to use it in conjunction with dry needling is presented and discussed. This is a powerful combination of techniques that significantly improve patient outcomes.

Throughout the course, we demonstrate and discuss our unique needling system focused on depressing sympathetic activity, elevating parasympathetic activity, and achieving autonomic nervous system homeostasis. You will walk away with a deep understanding of our needling methodology and how to help any impairment with dry needling, including why electric auricular vagus nerve needling is a key to success.

The gut-brain axis and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, key players of the autonomic nervous system, are strongly and positively affected by thoughtful needling. You will learn why. Electrical needling is discussed and you will learn why it increases efficacy, pain relief, and comfort of treatment. Advanced neurophysiology is discussed at length in regard to utilizing thoughtful dry needling to positively affect our autonomic nervous system and regulate it toward homeostasis. The key to health.

The primary method of learning for this course centers on the hands-on, clinical application of DN with partners. We will review clinical anatomy and practice DN of each tissue and system covered throughout the course. Each student is required to sign a waiver and practice DN on a lab partner. If you are unable to be needled, no problem, please contact us prior to the course.

The art of “needle palpation” will be introduced, which includes identifying different tissues with the tip of the needle to improve the efficacy of treatment and patient outcomes. Following the course, every student receives access to both instructors via cell phone or email and are encouraged to contact us at any time with clinical questions or concerns.

Note: This course has a laid back, relaxing atmosphere (I was a fly fishing guide for 10 years afterall). We feel this is the most enjoyable, beneficial and productive form of instruction. It's one of the most frequent compliments we have received while teaching in the past and students seem to truly enjoy it. This also improves learning, application and therefore, patient outcome.
