Advanced Clinical Dry Needling Course
Intricate Art Advanced Clinical Dry Needling is a 3-day, 27-hour advanced course on dry needling in the clinical setting, applying our autonomic nervous system-centered approach. This course combines our Dry Needling 3 and Lumbopelvic Dry Needling courses. Case studies are utilized to demonstrate a more integrated, advanced, and effective method of treatment. This course requires some prior needling experience. Students are NOT required to receive the prior training through our company. You DO NOT have to be pelvic floor certified or be a pelvic floor clinician to attend this course.
Advanced Clinical Dry Needling focuses on all parts of the body and all aspects of dry needling, including the pelvic floor. Instead of primarily focusing on specific muscles, as we do in DN 1 and 2, this course focuses on specific impairments and how to treat them using our unique approach. The true pelvic floor muscles are covered in depth, with emphasis on how to effectively needle these structures without exposing the genitals. 8 of the 9 true pelvic floor muscles can be needled without exposing the genitalia, providing a path around a major barrier to treatment for many patients and practitioners alike.
Impairments like post-operative dysfunction, concussions, cervicogenic dizziness, palsies, autoimmune conditions, acute/chronic injuries, incontinence, and more are discussed, along with how to utilize our autonomic nervous system-centered approach to treat them. Attention is placed on maximizing autonomic nervous system homeostasis each treatment to facilitate optimal results and quicker recovery. You cannot maximally induce autonomic homeostasis without treating the pelvic floor, making the pelvic floor an essential location to treat for all impairments, not just pelvic health impairments.
Note: Internal palpation, internal treatment, and internal assessment of the pelvic floor are NOT including in this course. Students are NOT required to expose their pelvic floor in the class. We provide live male and female models for the pelvic floor portion of this course.
The course begins with a review of DN history, safety, and current evidence-based research. Neuromusculoskeletal impairments, including common signs and symptoms and potential DN treatment routes are discussed in depth throughout the course. The known physiologic responses to needling different structures, including periosteum, ligaments, tendons, muscle, scar tissue, and more are discussed. An in-depth look at the methodology and effectiveness of dry needling for high level athletes is included. The art of “needle palpation” will be reviewed, which includes identifying different tissues with the tip of the needle to improve the efficacy of treatment and patient outcomes. Safety precautions and the proper handling of potential blood borne pathogens associated with dry needling are covered.
Examples of how to combine dry needling and joint manipulation in the clinic to improve treatment efficacy and patient outcomes are provided throughout the course.
The primary method of learning for this course centers around hands-on, clinical application of dry needling with partners. Each student is required to sign a waiver and practice on a lab partner. If you are unable to be needled, no problem, please contact us prior to the course.
All students must pass a practical and written exam with a minimal score of 80% to obtain certification. Following the course, each student receives access to both instructors via cell phone or email and are encouraged to contact us at any time with clinical questions or concerns.
Note: This course has a laid back, relaxing atmosphere. We feel this is the most enjoyable, beneficial, and productive form of instruction. It’s one of the most frequent compliments we receive.
